Bull riding is Rodeo's most popular, yet the most dangerous event. The bull rider's equipment consists of a bull rope which is a braided rope the a hand hold braided into it. The bull rope is looped around the bull's front shoulders. A glove is also used to help keep a tight grip on the rope. Some bull rider's use dull rowel spurs too. Bull riding is a scored event based on an eight second ride, as in all rough stock events. The bull rider sits on the bull's back, fastens his hand in his bull rope and when he is ready he nod's his head for the chute to be opened. This event is scored by two judges, 25 points for the rider and 25 for the bull's performance per judge, for a possible score of 100 points. The bull rider must not touch the bull with his free hand.
Also, in this event the cowboy depends on the clown or (Bull Fighter) to hold the bull's attention so he can make a safe escape. There are no pick-up men used in this event as it is to dangerous.
Barrel Racing is one of the most fastest and colorful events in the sport of Rodeo. Beautiful cowgirls, with colorful wardrobes and fast horses is what takes part in this timed event. Barrel racing is when a cowgirl enters the arena on her horse as fast as she can and make 360 degree turns around three, fifty-five gallon drums in a clover-leaf pattern, then it's the race back to the finish line. Electronic timers are used for recording times in this event, and the fastest time wins.
